We bought this rack to haul our kids bikes. It was cheaper than buying more racks for our yakima roof system. Our hitch has just enough room for the rack to clamp on to. The craddles for the bike bars rotate so they can be made to fit just about any size bike. (Some racks just use the horizontal bar found on mens bikes.) We have used it for 20", 16", a pull behind bike and adult bikes.

It's a little rickety & we had to buy a special hitch adapter, which cost another $50. Our hitch wasn't long enough but was also what I would think is the standard length. I would imagine most people would end up having to buy a longer hitch.
If you're looking for something that you want for a while or if you're really into biking I would say definitely spend a little more money.
Props to Amazon, though! The first one we received was faulty & they had a new one to us the very next day! They also made returning the first one VERY easy & free!
